It is the kind of cafe where you can order something light and still leave feeling fully satisfied.

Coffee lovers will probably appreciate the relaxed cafe culture at Kafe Topi. The coffee is smooth and enjoyable, pairing nicely with the peaceful atmosphere around the restaurant. Besides coffee, the restaurant also offers beer and alcohol, which adds to the easygoing social feel during the afternoon and evening hours. For those seeking a break from Ubud's hustle, this place is a sanctuary. It’s not a trendy hotspot; it feels like a gentle, intentional community dedicated to slow living and genuine craft. Walking from MaxHotel, I found a space where everything feels considered. The vegetarian meals are simple and nourishing. The light Kintamani Tubruk coffee allows the beans' character to shine without bitterness. The Japanese cheesecake is humble but perfect, I quietly ordered a second slice because it was just that good. The open-air setting, with no A/C, lets you truly settle in. Time slows down here. I spent a morning at the adjacent silver workshop for a 2.5-hour class, and breaking for coffee and a light bite in between felt like part of the creative rhythm. What moved me most was the sense of community. Using the WiFi to work for a bit, I witnessed locals and creators mingling easily. The Sunday market is special: local Japanese residents, who warmly speak Indonesian, offer their homegrown vegetables and handmade snacks. It feels less like a market and more like a shared gathering. This isn't a place you simply visit; it's a place you experience and become part of, even briefly. I left not just with beautiful memories, but with their wonderful white miso paste, now a staple in my kitchen to remember the taste of that calm, connected atmosphere. I will return for the quiet, the coffee, and the sincere sense of place.

We went to Kafe Topi and had udon, taco rice (homage to Okinawa?), papaya salad and sake cheese cake. What a delicious discovery! After days of eating unique and tasty West Sumatran dishes in Bukit Tinggi and Padang we were ready for a change. Satoru and Naomi were welcoming. Having travelled and lived in Japan we savored the authenticity of the meal. The sake cheese cake is a MUST after-meal treat!

Lovely place for Japan lovers! There's a mini library with so many original Japanese comics. The owner is a family from Japan, they're really kind and friendly. Lots of Japanese come over here. They manage a weekly Sunday market.

I don't know what exactly i order, but this is a perfect place for drinking coffee or tea with real Japanese cakes, mochi and others. I tasted this mochi like dessert with coffee and it tasted soooo good.. not too sweet, just enough with black coffee or tea. Even the coffee is self-roasted by the Japanese owner, brewed by himself and served by himself. He sells the beans in package of 100gr too, but for a very limited stocks. My Japanese friends said that this place is owned by a Japanese wife that is very famous among Japanese wives for this bazaar. So if you are in bali at the moment, visit this place. They will alternately move to Jakarta n Bali every 3 months.

We went on Sunday, there’s Sunday Market happening. They have cordial, fruits, veggies, bread. We took Omerice and Indian Plate for lunch, love it Also love the vibe. It’s like mini Japan, 90% of the people there were Japanese

They have small sign, it will be a little difficult to find the location. All the menus here are no MSG. Also they have a plenty of comics and books with Japanese language. But unfortunately they don't manage the library very well, there's much of dust, spiderweb and they don't proper ventilation. Hope in the future they will manage the library as the library can be worth to visit.

I love this place, food is authentic and healthy. If you want to find authentic Japanese food at affordable price, Kafe Topi definitely will be the right place. Omurice is so good, the tomato sauce is homemade and it’s fresh. Oobanyaki? Yes, they have it and it’s suitable for tea time. Not all Japanese restaurant will have oobanyaki for sure. They also sell miso paste and I guess it’s the best available miso in Indonesia. I can say that it’s really enrich my miso soup.

It’s a good value for the price and the food I ordered was really delicious. I really like Natto fried rice, which is Japanese taste. There is a comfortable free-Wifi. There is a service charge of 10%. It might be hard to find this restaurant, but you can find the shop signboard along the street. Anyway, I'm totally satisfied with the food, staff, and place.
